V minulom roku sa na The Game Awards 2018 pomerne často skloňovali mená titulov Red Dead Redemption 2 a God of War, tentokrát to vyzerá primárne na súboj akčnej novinky od fínskeho Remedy Entertainment, Control, a očakávanej hry Death Stranding, ktorej otcom je samotný Hideo Kojima (autor značky Metal Gerar Solid).
